Erhard Reeuwijk was a respected philantropist, engraver and designer of cardial ware active in the 1480s Holland. Dedicated his life to finding an inner balance from the harshness of the world, Reeuwijk transcribed his everyday impulses of woeful events into duochrome visions of hallowed icons. He had the chance to engage in submarine expeditions and to travel on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, where he visited many of the most blessed sights of the globe, and created most of his well-remembered works.

Yet not only did he spend his time on visual arts, but expressed the spectres of his heart in sonic notations as well. Using a long-forgotten system of musical symbols developed by Abdul Alhazred, the Reeuwijk Memoranda present the auditive experience of the young Reeuwijk, which he drafted during his voyage through the great fjords of Norway, an arboretum in Greifswald, a boat trip down the Nile to Rosetta and many others. Each song in the Memoranda represents an unforgettable time spent either at a certain location or an endless journey, where wondrous impressions took over the young Reeuwijk on his quest for overcoming the echoes of aphotic, subterranean secrets.
